Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day

Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day

Kellianne Bazzell

Mother’s Day is on May 13th, 2018 this year which means it’s this Sunday! If you haven’t already decided what you’re going to do for your mom yet, here are three ideas to get you started:

1: Play Tickets – What better way is there to spend time with your mom than to take her to a show that both you and her could enjoy, have great conversations about, and remember fondly? Chicago has a ton of great theaters with performances you shouldn’t miss. If you’re worried about the cost, Broadway in Chicago holds digital lotteries daily for a chance to win $10 tickets to Hamilton.

2: Stress Relieving Soap – Your mother has probably already mentioned this to you herself, but it’s hard to be a mom. To make up for all the challenges your mom faces everyday buy her some stress relieving soap to help her let loose. To help you get started on the shopping hunt, Bath and Body Works has its own collection of these soaps that are pretty inexpensive. Sarah T. ‘19 says, “I didn’t get it for my mom, but I have used the relaxing soap from Bath and Body Works before and I think that it’s pretty good. I’d get it for my mom.”

3: Manage Both Of Your Meals For The Day – Whether your mom makes most (or some) of your meals or not, it always feels nice to have someone else prepare one for you. What would really be nice is if you put together a menu of options you can make for her to decide for her special day. If you can’t cook there’s always the option of taking her to a restaurant and buying things from the store. Ashley R. ‘21 says, “Yeah so since we aren’t really able to buy gifts yet, like every year my siblings and I will work together to make like either my mom’s breakfast or lunch for her since it’s also not that hard and she seems to like it.”

Even if you don’t end up using these ideas, hopefully they were enough to get the ball rolling so you can think up your own. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there!
