Rat Aquatics Initiative (Bacon)

In efforts to tackle the rising issue of sewer rat drownings, Whitney Young students have taken the initiative to offer swimming lessons to these struggling creatures, instituting a program that teaches rats how to survive in the harshest sewer conditions.

The program, named “Rat Aquatics Initiative,” intends to prepare rats with the essential skills needed to navigate the dangerous sewer waters. “It’s time we address the staggering rates of sewer rat drownings,” declared senior Sanjana Devarajan, one of the swim instructors. “We need to make sewers a more welcoming place for rats!”

Some students have raised valid concerns. “Are we really spending valuable time on swimming lessons for rats?” questioned senior Andrea Gallegos. “What’s next? Skydiving squirrels?”

The swimming lessons have become popular among the sewer rats. They are showing up excited to be learning from our experienced student instructors. The tiny goggles we make for them are greatly appreciated by all participants in the program.

Our rat lifeguards remain consistent in their commitment to the program. “We refuse to let sewer rat deaths pile up,” Devarajan declared. “Together we will increase the number of prepared rats one by one. We will not let them go unnoticed.”

Beneath the streets of Chicago, the “Rat Aquatics Initiative” continues to make an impact, proving that even the smallest creatures can overcome their fears and employ life saving techniques to increase their quality of life.
