What’s the best music app?

Rasul Rahman, Writer

There are lots of music streaming services to choose from these days, with new offerings entering the market every month or so always keeps updating its features and music library, but which one is the best. Depending on your genre and how you utilize the app may be different than someone else, but simplicity makes a music app so much more easier. In the mix of apps there are Spotify, Apple music, Pandora, etc. But what makes these unique and what music app is the best?

Asking Genesis Rivera during french class what here preferred music app, she said, “ Spotify is the way to go man. I know everyone has apple music but come on now. Get with the wave!” Spotify is one of the world’s most successful streaming service aimed to promote music’s importance in schools. Spotify always enforces the importance of music in education and giving children and students the resources to be able to learn and experience music. So I can see why she would choose this. I unfortunately not been able to have the chance to utilize this app for myself.

Another friend of mine had a different perspective when it came to what the best app was. Asher Ben-Dashan said, “ Apple music will get you right. I’ve been using it for the longest and anyone who doesn’t use it is dumb.” I don’t think anyone is dumb for their preference but some of us are ill-informed about the best possible music apps we could use. The core of Apple Music is a catalogue of recordings, few million songs – to stream “on demand”, with recommendations, themed playlists and radio-like stations to help people navigate it. Using Apple Music, you can sort by artists, albums, songs, genres and composers and you can download albums or playlists to listen to offline. Apple Music also has one differentiating feature from other popular streaming apps: its ‘Connect’ feature. This feature lets you to follow bands, artists or individual curators and then you’ll get a feed with all the updates that these people choose to share.

Before I ended my questions another friend wanted to tell me her input of the best, that being Pandora. Fiona lyons-carlson said, “ Pandora is a classic and still works with me to this day. It always seems to know the right song to play.” Pandora has been a long-standing popular choice with excellent free options. It boasts a wide selection of songs from a variety of genres and artists. You get to select from different radio stations filled with songs from your favorite artists. Pandora Premium includes all the benefits of Plus in addition to the ability to search and play songs on-demand, no timeouts, fully customizable playlists, and more offline listening options.

With all these options available, it’s hard to determine what the best music app is. They all offer unique and innovating qualities. I personally use spinrilla which allows me to hear unreleased music from artists so I can’t truly say which one is the best, but maybe you can. Which music app do you think is superior?
