Senior performers last pep rally

It’s bittersweet becoming a senior and participating in school activities at Whitney Young for the last time- especially homecoming week. The spirit days, the pep rally, the game, the dance, and everything else that happens in our fun filled week are things that we will all miss. In particular, the pep rallies are a way for the whole school to come together and show how much spirit we have. All students, staff, and some parents come to support the school, make noise, and have fun.

Some of the highlights of the pep rally are the great performances by Cheer, Poms, and Guys and Dolls. These three teams start early in the summer and stay late after school to perfect the routines to show how much they love the school.

Have you ever wondered how it feels performing at a homecoming pep rally for the last time? Allison Mitola ‘18, member of Guys and Dolls  pre-professional dance company says, “I couldn’t help but tear up before I walked on. To dance. Something about so many kids cheering you on is the best feeling and to think that this is the last time with Whitney Young sucks.” So, a lesson to everyone is to take in all the opportunities and experiences at Whitney Young because they will be gone in a blink of an eye.
