Juan Karlo Desembrana

On Saturday, September 15, 2018, the Whitney Young Varsity Football team came out of a close game against Carver high school at Eckersall Stadium with an outstanding 35-32 victory. After the season ended early last year due to a lack of players, the Whitney Young Football team has come back strong and is seizing the competition, winning 4 straight games.

When asked about how the team managed to pull off that close victory, senior captain and quarterback Miles Wagner ‘19 responded, “The game came down to the final seconds and we showed resilience and toughness.” In response to the exciting comeback, team manager Sarah Chavez ‘20 commented, “It was a really close game, but I’m glad the boys stuck together and brought each other’s spirits up in the end. It was fun to be around them for their victory and it will be fun to be there for all of the other games they will win.”

Even though the Dolphins won this game, their season is far from over. Be sure to catch our upcoming homecoming game against DuSable High School on Friday, September 28 at  4:15pm- taking place at at our very own Rockne Stadium. Make sure to catch a game or two this season, they’re a great team to watch.
