Donald Glover and His Career

“I’ll see you for the last Gambino album.” A sentence no fan of Donald Glover popularly known as Childish Gambino wants to hear. At the Governor’s Ball Music Festival in New York, he announced that his next album will be his last. This comment obviously saddened fans that loved his numerous mixtapes, three studio albums, and cameos in movies and tv shows. Glover explained his reasoning to The Huffington Post and said, “There’s nothing worst than like a third sequel, like a third movie and we’re like, ‘again?’ You know, I like when something’s good and when it comes back there’s a reason to come back, there’s a reason to do that.” Glover has alluded to him possibly returning to the music industry when he feels the time is right.

On numerous accounts, Donald Glover has always expressed the importance to maintain his unique punk-rock and soul image to correctly represent himself. His most recent studio album, “Awaken My Love!” fully embodied his new image the best. This album was by-far the outlier to all of Glover’s other projects. His songs involved his soulful singing and punk-rock beats that surprised fans with a new way to look at the very diverse artist. However, die-hard Gambino fans can’t forget the blunt, explicit, and clever lyricist that gave us “Because The Internet,” and “STN MTN.” He gave listeners classics such as V. 3005, Sober, Heartbeat, I. The Worst Guys, and most recently Redbone. Glover’s work is always very much appreciated and he will be missed as a contributor to the hip hop and r&b music scene. Although he will be retiring from his music career, Glover will still be flourishing in his acting and producing career. He will be playing Lando Calrissian in the upcoming 2018 Star Wars movie, and he will continue to produce and star in his hit show “Atlanta.” Childish Gambino may soon be history, but Donald Glover will continue to present himself in the media due to his many other skills.
