Sneaks this Week P4

Christian Lovett

This week in sneaks features Adidas, Jordan, and Converse. Notable people mentioned in this article are Pharrell, Travi$ Scott, and Virgil Abloh. If you’re into sneakers or even making a little extra money you’re in the right place. Sneakers are and have always been a hobby of mine. I write a bi-weekly column about sneakers so if you like the following article don’t forget to check back for another article soon.

Adidas recently unveiled yet another collaboration with Pharrell Williams on the Pharrell HU NMD. The collaboration is expected to have 4 different colorways in a pack titled “China Exclusive.” The different colorways include red, blue, green, and tan/gold. The pack is limited to only 300 pairs meaning the value for these shoes will be at least 300% more than the original price listed at $250. The “China Exclusive” pack is scheduled to release May 12th. When asked about the pack, sneaker enthusiast, Emeka Anosike ‘18 said “I really am indifferent about the pack. I would prefer to get them and resale the shoe to make some extra spending money.” I personally would like to get the blue pair out of the pack but I know that it’d be impossible to get them unless I were to win a raffle out of thousands of other people.

Jordan brand previewed their upcoming collaboration with rap star Travi$ Scott. Recently Jordan brand confirmed that the shoe is coming this summer. The collaboration is on the Jordan 4 which is one of the more popular Jordan silhouettes. The most recent shoe collaboration he had was on an Air Force 1 which came out last December (2017). The shoe appears to be in a blue colorway featuring black and red accents. It will probably be more limited than the Air Force 1 release making the shoe more valuable. The Air Force 1 on average is worth $575. When asked about the shoe, Tyree Beard- a fan of the Jordan 4-  ‘18 said “I’m not too sure about this sneaker given the shade of blue so I’d have to see them in person in order to make a decision on if I want them or not. I do love Jordan 4’s and they’re my favorite Jordan silhouette so I’ll probably try to cop them anyways and if I don’t like them then I’ll sell them.”

Converse has finally given its fans reason to hope for a release of the Off White Converse Chuck Taylor. The shoe is apart of Virgil Abloh’s collaboration with Nike titled “The Ten.” The shoe was expected to release alongside the other ten sneakers but the release date was never confirmed. Converse and Virgil Abloh himself confirmed that the pair is expected to release in May. Based upon the success of the other sneakers from the collection the Converse Chuck Taylor should do just as well. Given its classic silhouette and popularity I’d expect it to do as well, if not better than the Nike Blazer that was apart of “The Ten.”
