This past Sunday the Bears finally let the training wheels off their rookie quarterback Mitch Trubisky. The rookie quarterback had been 2-1 up until this past game against the New Orleans Saints. The Bears lost 20-12 in Mitch Trubisky’s first start with over 30 passing attempts. Even though they didn’t get  a strong outing from Trubisky, the Bears lost the game rather than the Saints won the game. From numerous drops and missed field goals, the Bears can’t seem to get it together. Many Whitney Young students are frustrated with the Bears , “ Its upsetting to watch them continue making mistakes, they could easily be 6-2 “, says senior Leslie Hurtado ‘18.  Up to this point, the Bears had been relying on their strong defense and run game, allowing Trubisky to take a backseat to the offense. When he was called upon this past game, it wasn’t pretty. The rookie quarterback isn’t fully to blame, with no weapons to throw to other than Tarik Cohen out of the backfield,it’s hard to truly take a stance on him. The Bears up to this point seem to be out of the playoff race but you never know with Rodgers hurt, the Detroit offense struggling and the Vikings lack of a run game. The NFC North is a crazy place to be right now and only time will tell who comes out the victor.
