The once loved Harold’s Chicken Shack, located on Madison and Ashland, has recently been receiving a lot of criticism. It first opened up at the beginning of last year and everyone raved about it. So then why are many now saying you should “think twice” about going here?

One of their most famous menu options are their chicken wings. But recently many Whitney Young students have been complaining that they don’t taste as good as other locations. Patrice ‘20 stated, “Many times I have ordered their 4 piece chicken wing combo but then I try it and it has the taste of their fish. That’s how I can tell they use the same grease for all their food and that it’s probably old.” This is the reason she no longer goes to this location.

Along with this, some other students complained about how many times they’ve noticed the employees handling the food without hairnets. Khayin ‘19, mentioned that she, “saw an employee working with the food and they weren’t wearing a hairnet which made me feel a bit uneasy.” Although this is problem, it can easy be fixed. As Jonathan  ‘19 said, “I really like their food so I feel like if they just fix a couple of things then they could definitely get more customers.” Perhaps if people sent these complaints to the “shack”, they can resolve these issues and turn it back to the highly loved Harold’s Chicken Shack it was last year.
