Girls basketball promises exciting season

Maya Reese, Sports Editor

After recently sitting down with the girls basketball team captain, Katrina Beck, it is clear that the team has big plans to remain a top contender.

What are the goals of the girls basketball team this year?

We want to win the city championship for the seventh time in a row and win another state championship.

Do you believe your team will win state once again? Who is your biggest

competition?

Yes, I think we will win again. Our biggest competition is ourselves because I don’t think that anyone can beat us when we do the things we are capable of doing.

Are there any new varsity team members? If so, who?

We have a former JV member that moved up, her name is Sloane Kistinger. Ironically, two of our biological sisters have joined our varsity family; my sister, Brianna Beck, and Finess Dickson’s sister, Aireal Dickson.”

In your opinion, who is the breakout player this season? What has she done to

prove herself?

I think it would be Isabelle Spingola because she adds versatility to the team through her field goals, rebounds, and activeness in the post.

Since losing Khaalia Hillsman (6’5 C), how did your team adjust?

It became a team effort. We all contribute in different ways.

What players have already committed to a college/university?

I committed to ISU, Tanita Allen will be at DePaul University, and Madinah Muhammad will be at Ole Miss.
