The Philadelphia 76ers hosted the Chicago Bulls last Thursday night (give date) for their season and home opener. The Bulls fell short losing 127-108 in regulation. Zach LaVine stepped up shooting 11-19 with 30 points, 5 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 3 assists in 33 minutes of play. They struggled in the 2nd and 3rd quarters failing to put up more than 18 points in each quarter. With their golden boy, Lauri Markkanen, out with an elbow injury, the Bulls struggled in their first matchup with a seemingly strong lineup centered around Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. However, this is only the start to a season with unmarked potential. “I feel like if we had Lauri than our offense would be so much stronger, we NEED our 7th overall pick to get back on his feet asap”, said Brian LaFountain ‘19. Contradicting this, Yashua Kemet ‘20 thinks “Zach LaVine could take this team by storm. With Lauri out, it’s his time to shine and prove everyone that he was worth the trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves.” The Bulls traded Jimmy “Buckets” Butler for Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and a 7th overall pick which was used to acquire Markkanen. However, Amauri Middleton ‘21 says “Its a team game, there is no way the Bulls will win with just one player.” Hopefully, without Markkanen, the bulls can piece together key wins for a deep playoff run later this season. After all, every game counts.
