People all over are raving about the opening of the Glossier pop up store in Chicago located on 114 N Aberdeen Street. For those who are not familiar with Glossier, it is an all natural skincare and makeup company. Each product is made with ingredients that are made to work best with your skin. There are locations in New York City and Los Angeles, but with the increase of popularity, people were practically begging for a pop up in Chicago. Celebrities such as Beyonce and Salma Hayek have been seen using Glossier’s makeup in their red carpet looks.

What do loyal customers like so much about Glossier? Sophie Sanchez ‘19 responds, “I like Glossier because it focuses on emphasizing beauty that you already have and it’s very inclusive of different kinds of beauty.” With the large global expansions of the brand, more and more people are becoming aware of what makes Glossier so special.

Founder Emily Weiss has said, “Glossier is about living in—and embracing—the now, not the past, and not the future. It’s about fun and freedom and being OK with yourself today. It’s about being nice to people and knowing that a smile begets a smile. Snobby isn’t cool, happy is cool.” Glossier is making people happy all over the world.

What an opportunity it is to have a chance to get to see the first ever Glossier pop up in our very own Chicago! On her experience at the pop up location, Alex Steadman ‘20 claims, “The store overall had a very appealing ambiance to it.

The staff was also very kind and helped explain almost every product to me.” Ciara Lynch ‘19 had a similar response about her experience at the pop up, “They were super fun and helpful and talked to me about my outfit. They give good suggestions and honest reviews and I really like all the art that they have in there.” The consistent responses about the million dollar business represents their ability to reach different audiences.

The pop up location opened on August 23 and closes on October 28. With the wave of excitement over the skin care essentials brand, we can only hope they make a permanent store here in Chicago soon. Make sure to stop by before it’s gone!
