Wotherspoon Nike 97’s

In the last week another drop by Nike took the world by storm. The new Sean Wotherspoon Air Max 97/1 hybrid dropped for this year’s 2018 Air Max Day (March, 26). The retro look has come to appeal to many, however, the drop was quite limited. In Chicago, all the stores that had the Wotherspoon’s available, had lines starting up nearly 24 hours before the stores would even open to sell them. For the price of $160, these shoes were heap considering the resell is at nearly $550 for some sizes.  Because of the enormous profit on these shoes, resellers also flocked to the scene, taking the shoes out of the retail market for people who actually wanted it. Rico Bustemea 19’ complained, “I got as many pairs as I could because the resell on these are crazy. I made nearly four thousand dollars on all the pairs I got”.

With the hype on Adidas also dying out slowly throughout the past year, especially with the infamous Yeezy line, declining in sales, Nike has been on the rise.  The complaint may be because everyone including those who are uninterested in shoes, have been buying pairs of Yeezy’s to show off. With so many people owning a pair, people like Anthony Banelous 18’, said, “there’s just way too many kids out here with a pair of yeezy, that now it’s not even special to have them anymore”.
