The 2017-2018 school year’s spring break will fall on March 25th, 2018-March 31st, 2018. While some use this anticipated week to compensate for all the sleep they lost during the rest of the school year, others will find exciting things to do around Chicago. Here are some things five Whitney Young students will be doing during their break.

  • “During spring break, I take advantage of all the museums Chicago has to offer. My favorite is Shedd Aquarium because they give a student discount and I love underwater animals!” -Jenny Gonzalez ‘22
  • “I think the most underrated place to go during spring break is the zoo. It is convenient because Lincoln Park Zoo has free admission and it is also right off the Fullerton stop on the brown line.” -Nate Monocchio ‘21
  • “Spring break is my time to be adventurous. My friends and I like to ride the L from the first stop to the last. Along the route we get off and eat at a new restaurant or even get our ears pierced.” -Lily Alvarez ‘22
  • “The best part of my spring break is driving down Lake Shore Drive to Navy Pier. I ride the ferris wheel and take pictures at the botanical garden.” -Sierra Orr ‘18
  • “I like to take advantage of the warm weather and find new parks that have soccer fields. My whole family gathers the last weekend of spring break and we have a family soccer game which is a lot of fun!” -Andres Rios ‘18

Although spring break seems like the perfect chance to stay at home and study for future curriculum that your teacher will give, we encourage you to be adventurous and create memories in the city of Chicago especially for seniors who might be leaving Chicago in a few months for college.
