Tom Brady has always been an example of great athletes and a name that anyone who knows anything about American football should know. In the past year, Tom Brady released a book titled “The TB 12 Method” which encompassed a lot of information from Brady involving football, health, and athleticism. Of course, it is to be expected that someone without a degree in the subject may spread less than helpful information regarding health, but Brady went on in his book to recommend drinking one-half of your body in water every day at a minimum.

This recommendation by Brady is dangerous, but it isn’t Brady’s fault for recommending it. Put this into consideration, Brady is an NFL athlete and surrounded by other NFL athletes with abilities that are different from the average Joe. Drinking as much water daily as Brady recommends could lead to hyponatremia and even a stroke according to nutritionist Ariane Resnik.

I took to the halls to ask Whitney Young students an important question: Do you think you could drink half your body weight in water daily? “I don’t even think I drink 8 glasses a day” said Kevin Wu ‘18. Others were more optimistic about their abilities, “I think I could do that” said Jovan Gonzalez ‘18.
