The Thirst Project

Brandon Portillo, Staff Writer

The Thirst Project is preparing for a big year this year. The group’s goal is to raise money to build wells in Africa that can provide clean water to those who do not have access to clean water.Anna Domahid ‘18 and Maddie Cardarelli,‘18 started this club in 2014 and it has been a grown since then. The co-founders of the club have been working hard to create events at Whitney such as World Water day and participating at the Taste of Whitney Young.

In regards to the upcoming school year, Anna had this to say: “I know this year is going to be monumental for the Thirst Project. We are coming up with new ways to raise money through fundraisers and events. I’m hoping that Maddie and I can do the World Water Day event again like we did last year. This year is going to be great and I’m hoping we raise a lot of money so we can build a well in Swaziland.”

The girls are hoping to raise 2,500 dollars to build a well this year. They have a lot of new ideas and are excited to see what is in store for the Thirst Project. They hope to raise more money than they have in the last three years combined and are set on recruiting more people to support the cause!
