The United States Supreme Court dismissed a case against the travel ban proposed by the Trump administration on October 10th. The Trump administration had asked the Supreme Court to drop the case after a new version of the ban was signed in its place. By replacing the original ban the case was made against, the challenge had less weight to it. The new version of the travel ban includes the countries of Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, Chad, North Korea, and Venezuela. In addition to the adding of more countries to the travel ban, the ban now differs in treatment between countries and tourists. The Trump administration argues that the new ban is based on thoroughly researched review in the name of U.S national security.

Many people will be affected by this travel ban when it comes into full effect, some even being within our own school walls. “I have some distant family in Venezuela and this could be a major problem for them and our future family reunions.” says Fabian Haro ‘18. Others are showing support of the ban. “I think the ban is good because it will keep us safe and sound. Only bad guys should be effected by this ban though.” says Jovan Gonzalez ‘18. The travel ban has been one of the most talked about actions of the Trump administration and it looks like it will continue to be in the news for time to come.
