Reading, You Should Try It!

Before there were phones, game consoles, or even board games,  there was reading, a fundamental leisure activity all of our predecessors engaged in and practiced. From the individual scriptures written in the Bible, philosophical teachings listed by Plato, and even the romantic plays created by Shakespeare were all enjoyed amongst readers. One may learn that reading is not only beneficial in ceasing someone’s boredom, but it can improve someone’s verbiage and reading skill. Kyle Yu(‘17) states, “I’ve noticed that leisure read has really improved my reading and made standardized testing extremely easy.” And when there is knowledge there  is fun. Maddie Mariani(‘18) has started Whitney M. Young’s Book Club. She stated, “I love reading and I want to help people develop the passion for reading as well.” High school institutions prepare students for post-secondary school by having them read texts such as:To Kill a Mockingbird, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Beowulf, and Romeo and Juliet. Josh Locks(English Teacher) stated, “All students should read similar texts and be taught the same reading course in order to have a notion about certain experiences in life.” Reading is an activity that can both relieve the mind and strengthen it. Reading has prepared people for many obstacles and will continue to be a method of fun and learning.
