If you haven’t seen Fate of the Furious, you’re not too late. The 8th movie to the Fast and Furious franchise recently has been released . In its first weekend, it pulled in $532 million in box office sales around the world, and the numbers do not stop there. Plans for this movie were announced in 2015 and preparations were made immediately after the release of Fast and Furious 7. The plot mainly follows Dominic “Dom” Toretto and his endeavors to keep his family safe, while of course sporting fast cars to get him to his destinations. There isn’t really much to say without spoiling it, but if you are into luxury cars and fast paced action, this movie is made for you.Many students have reacted to the movie favorably because of its many surprises. “It was a great movie, lots of unexpected plot twists,” Sylvia Love ‘21. The cast consists of faces you have seen in previous movies of the sequel, except one familiar face who will no longer be a part of the sequel. Paul Walker, who starred as Bryan O’Conner in the films, passed in 2013 during the filming of Fast and Furious 7.Although it was difficult to move past this unfortunatedeath,writers still managed to keep the plot interesting. “ I think they were able to fulfill the purpose of the movie even though they were missing an important character that could’ve changed the dynamics,” Shayanna Love ’17. Many didn’t expect this sequel to continue after the tragedy, but rumors are circulating that this isn’t the end. “ I’m excited to see how many they could make, it’s gonna be impressive if they could continue,” noted Sierra Perkins’17 of Westinghouse High School. So far, it has been confirmed that there will be a Fast and Furious 9 and 10, and Vin Diesel as well as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will be a part of the cast. So, if you aren’t up to date with this sequel, you should catch up, and if you are, buckle up for the ride!
