Xfinity Stream TV App Review

David Rivera

The xfinity Stream TV app promises to be a great way to watch TV on the go, but only leaves users frustrated. The app is available to Comcast TV subscribers and can be found in the App Store or on Google Play. The app allows users to watch TV on any of their devices, but, the catch is, in order to watch most channels or the On Demand feature, users must be on home WiFi. Outside of the house, there are designated TV GO channels which users can view anywhere.

Jacob Salazar 17’ has never used the app, but stated “I would like that I don’t have to be in my house to watch sports.” The xfinity app satisfies user’s tastes for sports with TV GO options such as ESPN, Fox Sports 1, and the Big10 Network.

Edgar Alvarado 17’, a frequent user of the app, said “It’s a bummer not being able to watch my specific shows on the road because if I was at home, then I wouldn’t need to use the app.” Anthony Pulido 18’, agreed with Alvarado, but commended the app’s DVR function, which allows him to watch his recordings outside of home WiFi.

It’s odd that the app doesn’t let users watch the channels that they have already paid for with their TV subscription. The app will continue to under deliver and lose viewers to rival apps such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video until this change is made. As it stands now, the app leaves users with one large unfulfilled promise.
