WY fall sports teams dominate

WY fall sports teams this year have put on some of the most prominent displays of dominance is school history. The winningest golfer in recent WY history, Marcellus Dillard, has led the golf team to another City Championship. He has gone on an unprecedented run after what he called a “disappointing Junior season.” In a record-smashing fall, Dillard went undefeated in every tournament and match he played. He broke a score of 80 countless times, consistently beating personal and city records.

Girls Tennis, another dominant fall sports team, also went undefeated this season. A team that Coach Willard referred to as the the best ever, the girls not only beat city teams, but downstate suburban competition as well. They then took their talents all the way to the city championship, where they took the title with ease. Captain Kara Barclay () and Camryn Salter (2018) said that the extra practice, hard work, and motivation allowed them to excel on the court. It was truly an amazing season. According to Salter, the season has been extremely successful and their was really is no competition in terms of city schools. Their new goal looking forward is to make it down to state and claim that title, too. If so, they will be the first WY Girls Tennis team to appear in a state tournament.

Girls Tennis has not been the only team that has been annihilating the competition thus far as the Girls Volleyball team has also been on a warpath. Led by captains Vivica Price, Alana Walker, and Danyelle Williams, all D1 athletes, this star-studded crew has dominated teams across the entire state since early August. According, to Walker “the team is at its strongest ever.” They are projected to easily win the City Championship facing Jones. The road to State, however, is a much more difficult path as top teams from around the state will come together to compete. Nonetheless, The WY Volleyball team is heading into the fight with poise and are strongly favored to make it far. They, too, are looking to go down as one of the best teams in WY history.
