Q: What sports do you play and what is your role on the team?
A: I swim and my role on the team, I would say, is a motivator to the younger guys on the team. Swimming is an all mental sport and without motivation it gets difficult.
Q: How and why did you start swimming?
A: I started swimming when I was about 5. I started swimming because of my older brother was swimming as well and I wanted to be better than him, and it seemed pretty cool to swim competitively.
Q: Do you have any pregame rituals?
A: I have a couple pregame rituals which include carb loading and sleeping a ton the night before. I usually eat a bunch of chocolate right before a race. When I am about to race Future and Trap Music get me motivated. Sometimes JB gets it going as well.
Q: What is the most exciting part of swimming?
A: I would say the most exciting part about swimming is racing and beating out the guy next to you, but the real fun part is the grind.
Q: Where do you intend to take your swimming career?
A: In the future I would like to rep the USA in the national team and swim in college.
Q: How did your competition go this weekend?
A: Last weekend we had city relays. The meet last weekend went really well as a team; we had just completed a hard week of practice and we swam really fast, so over all I thought we did good as a team. We beat our biggest competitor, Northside, and won the meet, but now we need to work harder to win sectionals.
Q: Who is your swimming role model?
A: I don’t really have a role model when it comes to swimming. Swimming is a mental sport, so I look to myself to self-motivate. That way I have no limits or goals to be someone that I can surpass.
