Girls Soccer Midseason Update

Cole Riley, Staff Reporter

The girls soccer team is off to a slow start, with a 6-6-2 record as they head into conference play. The lady dolphins started off the season with a big 4-2 win over Jones College Prep at Toyota Park, but have since ran into a few roadblocks, losing to rival Lane tech 2-0, and tying fellow CPS teams Walter Payton and Northside College Prep 3-3 and 2-2 respectively. But the team is confident that they can go back to last years winning ways, where they captured a city championship in a thrilling playoff matchup over the Lane Tech Indians.

The girls team has a lot of young talent, spearheaded by captains Nicole Kaplan, Esme Kline, Andrea Gomez, all seniors, as well as division 1 commit Gaby Schwartz (‘16). As of late, the Dolphins have finally started scoring some more goals, and several players have stepped up to play new positions, most notably Madison Ekern ‘16, who has stepped up to play significant minutes at center. With so much talent on the roster, it is only a matter of time before the Dolphins get back to their winning ways.
