Dolphins Overwhelm the Wildcats 97-74

In a first round CPS playoff matchup, the Dolphins delivered a beating to the visiting Phillips Wildcats, downing them 97-74, in the final home game of the season. But this game was more than just a win for seniors Anthony Mosley, McKinley Nelson, Joe Toye, and Chris Everett. For them, this was the culmination of their 4 years of hard work.
The stage was set, and with Slaughterhouse organizing a blackout, the crowd was excited to say the least. Before the game, each senior was presented with a gift: a framed home jersey, and were given the opportunity to walk out onto the court with their parents one last time. And they made the most of it, with all 4 seniors, along with Rodney Herenton ‘16 starting, they gave the packed Slaughterhouse crowd a show.

Vanderbilt commit Joe Toye had 18 points, highlighted by two back to back dunks in the 3rd quarter. The sleeper star of the night was sharpshooter Willie Herenton ‘17, who finished with a team high 26 points, off impressive 3 point shooting.

Every member of the Dolphins varsity squad saw substantial playing time in the blowout win, and the Dolphins held the lead from the opening bucket. Truly an impressive start to the city playoffs, and a great finish to the home careers of  those 4 seniors.
