Have you heard about the newest up-and-coming DJ and producer from the Whitney Young community? If not, let me introduce you to the latest young producer. His name is Carlos Murillo, better known as Trudoh, and he is a current senior at Whitney M. Young High School.
Trudoh started his music journey at the age of 9 by taking on the hobby of drumming during the pandemic which over time turned into a passionate pursuit of house music, a genre that takes cues from all varieties of music. Throughout the pandemic and beyond, Trudoh was the drummer for a local Chicago band named Metra with other musically-inclined high schoolers and also started producing music on the side. When asked about his influences, he explained, “I try to take inspiration from all the other genres I explore through drumming when I make house music.”
Although his house music journey started during the pandemic, he officially started the Trudoh Instagram account in May of this year. Since then, it has caught the attention of a midsized LA Label named InStereo Recordings, which signed him for a project released in January 2024. Recently, he began an Instagram reel series that explains how to get signed. He says, “As for my content, I enjoy making reels as much as I like watching them. It helps me come up with ideas for making music, and vice versa. Follow the ig btw.” When I asked about his love for house music, Trudoh mentioned how it has always been a part of his life, “House was born in Chicago. I was born in Chicago; It’s a match made in heaven.”
Make sure to follow Trudoh at @trudoh1 on TikTok and @trudoh_ on Instagram. Don’t forget to give him a listen on Spotify.
