*TW* Bullying and suicide

Yarraka Bayles posted a video of her 9-year old son, Quaden, who has Dwarfism, having an emotional breakdown and crying after a bullying incident at school.

Ms. Bayles notes how she and her daughter were picking Quaden up from school when they saw a girl petting him on the head and calling him short. His mother noted the obvious discomfort in Quaden’s face and asked him if he wanted her to say anything, to which Quaden responded no because he did not want her to make a big deal out of it.

In the video, you can see a distraught Quaden crying, telling his mother that he wants to die, asking her for a rope to strangle himself with. Ms. Bayles said this is not the first incident in which Quaden has shown suicidal thoughts, having already attempted suicide due to bullying at 6-years old. “This is what bullying does,” his mother says.

The video, in which Ms. Bayles begs for better education on disabilities so that bullying incidents like this do not happen, quickly went viral and Quaden has since gained a lot of support. Celebrities such as Hugh Jackman and Brad Williams, who also suffers with dwarfism, have shown support for Quaden. Brad Williams even started a GoFundMe to raise money for Quaden to visit Disneyland.

This video and its rapid virality has shed light on the issue of bullying and suicide and has led people to push parents to educate their children on respect, especially when it comes to other kids with disabilities.
