Juice Wrld Passes Away

In a shocking and devastating turn of events, rapper and Chicago native Juice Wrld past away on December 8th, 2019. He collapsed just after his flight landed at Midway Airport, as he was returning home to celebrate his 21st birthday. Reportedly, the “Lucid Dreams” rapper tried to hide drugs from federal agents awaiting his arrival at the airport by swallowing the pills that he had on the plane. Law enforcement agents were at the scene because they had heard that Juice Wrld had guns and drugs aboard the aircraft. The rapper, who was famous for his Billboard ranked songs such as “Robbery” and “Armed and Dangerous” had amassed millions of followers on social media and listeners worldwide. Due to the immensity of his star, three students from Whitney Young were asked how Juice Wrld music impacted their lives. Jaylen Rogers ‘22, said, “I had his music constantly in rotation and I was honestly devastated to hear of his passing.” Similarly, Greg Hernandez ‘21, echoed, “It’s a real shame that his life was so short. He barely scratched the surface of what he was capable of.” Carla Silvers ‘20, however, said, “I didn’t know of him or his music, but I was saddened by the news of his passing.” His print on the music industry is something that will be remembered and he will truly be missed.
