Will Donald Trump Be Impeached?

Will the 45th President of the United States be expelled from office? Following recent speculation of misconduct involving collusion with Russia and election interference, (as well as numerous other allegations) Donald Trump is being investigated for a potential impeachment trial. Multiple Congressional committees have been tasked to initiate an impeachment inquiry. Democrats in Congress have been calling for his impeachment as early as 2017, but now the possibility of it happening is closer to fruition. More surprisingly, even some Republicans have voiced their support ofthe matter, with Maryland Governor Larry Hogan (R) stating his support for an impeachment trial to “get to the bottom of it.” In the wake of such significant developments, three Whitney Young students were asked if they believe Donald Trump will be impeached in the coming months. “I feel that if all the allegations prove to be true, he will definitely be impeached. Hopefully, the truth will come out, whatever it is,” said Eliza Burk ‘23. Similarly, Timothy Stone ‘20 added, “I’m not sure how the President will be able to maintain his position in office if he is found of wrongdoing. I hope the justice system comes through.” Conversely, Samantha Ritter ‘22 suggested, “I don’t think he will be impeached because most of the people prosecuting him will be fellow Republicans, who would probably be trying to keep him in office.” Whatever happens, it is sure to continue to be a fascinating story.
