Finals Week 2019

Skylar Mooyoung, Writer

As we all know, the dreaded finals week is slowly but surely approaching. Finals this year are listed for January 29th-January 31st, 2019. With little time left until finals there are a few ways you can prepare to get the results you want.

  • Start reviewing now. Even though finals are still a week or so away, you should begin review material from throughout the semester now. Look over old vocabulary, flip through your notes, go over past homework and tests. Siauna Respress ‘20 says, “I take a few hours out every night to prepare and review for my finals so I can get the best results possible.” The worst thing you can do is procrastinate and realize the night before you don’t know the material from October. To prevent this, take a little time each night to review for the upcoming exams.
  • Use your resources. Whitney Young is lucky enough to have math/writing centers and tutoring to help students in a variety of subjects. While you still have a chance, go get help on forgotten concepts and areas you are stuck on. You should also go talk to your teachers and get the extra help you need to help you succeed. Jeremiah Shade ‘21 says, “I go to the math center 3 times a week and I think that has helped me grasp the material in preparation for my finals.”
  • Turn in late work. Depending on the teacher you have, you might be able to turn in missed assignments or late work before the end of the semester. Check in with your teachers and look through Gradebook to see if you are missing any assignments. If you can, make sure you turn in everything so you can have the best grade possible. Kayla Bilal ‘19 said, “My teachers are pretty lenient about turning in work so I made sure all of my assignments were in.”

All in all, it is better to start preparing for your finals now while you still have time to ask questions and understand. Use your time and resources wisely. Happy Finals everyone!
