Whitney Young goes from NO football team to CONFERENCE CHAMPS!

On October 18th, the Whitney Young Dolphins Football team won the Conference division championship.What makes this victory so much sweeter, is that last year the dolphins didn’t even have enough players to have a team, but this year they have turned it completely around and finished their season as UNDEFEATED Champions! The final score of the game was 52-34 against the Prosser Falcons, making the Dolphins 9-0 on the season. The team was lead by Daniel “Ching” Belk, Miles Wagner, Amir Abdullah, and Akil Mitchell.

Daniel Ching Belk ‘20, said “It felt great getting the W and going Undefeated for the season”.

The entire student body of Whitney Young is very proud of this year’s football team achievement, especially when they think about what the football program was a year ago.

A student ‘19 said, “It’s great to hear that they are actually winning”.

Some of the changes that the football team made from last year was hire a new coach, Christopher Mallette, along with a new and improved coaching staff. These two factors lead to more players wanting to be apart of the new Whitney Young football team. The Dolphins then began a new era of football with a better work ethic and winning mentality.

“I didn’t know that they would have this good of season”, said a student ’19 from Whitney Young.

This years football team seemed to have the perfect story and we look for even better things in the future!
