Have you heard the new album, My Dear Melancholy, that The Weeknd released a few days ago? If not you’re missing out. I initially didn’t get the opportunity to listen, but everyone was recommending it to me when I brought it up in conversation. “”If you’re in the mood for some chill music while studying or even something when you’re having a sad day, this 22 minute album will be your go to,” Deztinee Geiger ‘18 said when discussing the album. My Dear Melancholy only consists of six songs, but they are all gems. I have been a huge Abel fan for a while now, and I can really tell that he put his foot into this one, and it was most likely a result of his break-up with Selena Gomez a few months ago. Nariya Douglas ‘19 said, “The songs remind me of his old music, and this is the Weeknd that I like to hear. His last few albums have been pretty commercialized and I wasn’t feeling it.”

My favorite song from the album at the moment is the second song on the album titled ‘Try Me’, which is about his relations with a female who is in a relationship and is not being faithful to her partner, is my favorite track at the moment. It really puts me into my feelings despite the fact that I have never actually been in that situation. You can’t really get a true understanding of the album unless you hear it for yourself, so go ahead and press play and see if you like it. It gets a 10 from me.
