Top Five Animes To Binge Over Break

Top Five Animes To Binge Over Break

Dearborn Plys, Editor

Winter break, it’s a time to kick back, sleep for 15 hours each night, and binge some anime. Finally you’ve got the time to watch a show with more than 12 episodes, but what shows should you watch? Here’s my list of 5 animes to make your winter break great!

  1. Durarara!

This is the show where everything is connected and it’s gonna blow your mind. The first three episodes are kind of slow, but trust me once you get past that you’re not gonna be able to take your eyes off the screen. Each new character adds another layer of complication as you find out more about the shady behind the scenes going ons of Ikebukuro. True to life depictions of Tokyo streets set the backdrop for a gritty and intriguing show.

  1. Monthly Girls Nozaki-Kun

I know I said these shows would all have more than 12 episodes, but this one is so good I’m including the time you’re going to spend reading all of the manga after you finish the anime. Nozaki-Kun is the slice of life to top all slice of lifes. Sakura Chiyo, high school sophomore and art hobbyist tries to confess to Nozaki Umetarou, high school sophomore and secret mangaka, and hilarity ensues. This whole show is full of trope-bending, well placed sparkles, and loveable characters so it’s definitely a must-watch.

  1. Osomatsu-san

Osomatsu-san follows the life of sextuplets, six unemployed brothers living at home. Osomatsu, Choromatsu, Karamatsu, Ichimatsu, Jyushimatsu, and Todomatsu are all living their lives, judging each other, and sometimes trying to get a job. This show is totally stress-free, perfect for break when your brain isn’t ready for comprehensive thought. Some of the episodes actually get really meta, and it’s a wild ride.

  1. Mob Psycho 100

From One, the creator of One Punch Man comes a show with somehow even more ridiculous anime violence. I’m a big fan of distinctive art styles in anime and Mob Psycho is animated entirely in One’s distinctive kind of squiggly style. Imagine if the shots from One Punch Man where Saitama looks like an egg had their own show. This is that show.

  1. My Hero Academia

You’re probably already heard about this one, but I’m just gonna tell you that it’s as good as people say. All the fun of superhero shows mashed together with anime fight scenes and the high school setting of a slice of life. It’s even got a tournament arc. Join Izuku Midoriya on his journey to become the strongest, best hero, you won’t regret it.

Have an awesome break, see you next year!
