Runner Ahmad Keshk ’16:

Q: What do you like most about running?

A: I like running because its something that takes both mental and physical strength. We runners like the pain, and by going through it together and achieving great results and times, there isn’t a better feeling.

Q: What school is your biggest rival?

A: Jones and Lane Tech are both huge rivals.

Q: What is your team’s goal for the season?

A: To win city and send as many people downstate as possible. I’ve never seen our team so strong and populated  and I know we have the talent and the numbers to win both city and state

Q: Why should a fan come to your meets?

A: A fan should come to our meets because while normal running may seem boring, a race is a whole different story. There is nothing more amazing to see than someone giving it their all to the finish line in an all out battle with hundreds of athletes.

Swimmer Jessie Cronin ’15:

Q: What do you like most about swimming?

A:  Swimming is unique in the way that it is an individual and a team sport. While we each get to swim our own events, we all come together at the end in relays and team points. It’s fun to work together but also have the chance to compete against ourselves.

Q: What school is your biggest rival?

A: Lane Tech. They have always been around and posed a threat; their team is strong and big. It’s always a tough meet we look forward too. It’s a competitive but friendly rivalry.

Q: What is your team’s goal for the season?

A: Since a lot of the best swimmers on both Lane Tech and Northside graduated last year, I hope this year we can make a run for the city championship. I think with enough practice and hard work we have a chance.

Q: Why should a fan come to your meets?

A:  We need fans there to cheer us on to victory. Having friends there really helps us preform better. Hopefully they’ll truly enjoy the experience and want to come back again.

A: The teams goal for this year is not only to excel as individuals but to be able to mesh as a unit so we can take city for the 5th time in a row and hopefully head downstate.

Q: Why should a fan come to your games?

A: Fans should come to our games because its always a fun time. We play hard and have a good time. The crowd is always enjoying themselves on their feet and cheering for us to win, which we do often.

Runner Alexis Wilson ’15:

Q: What do you like most about running?

A: What I like the most about running is that sense of accomplishment and pride you get after completing a hard workout or competing well at a meet. Cross Country is a team sport but running allows you to set personal goals as well. I love setting goals for the season and working towards them and eventually surpassing them.

Q: What school is your biggest rival?

A: Lane Tech is our biggest rival because well its Lane for one but also because they have a few fast girls on their team but we can and will handle them.

Q: What is your team’s goal for the season?

A: This year our team would like to reclaim the city championship but our biggest goal is to make it down state and compete for a title.

Q: Why should a fan come to your meets?

A: Watching Cross Country races is different because you don’t see the entire race as it happens. The exciting part about watching the race is that when you get those few glimpses of the runners, besides the start and finish. Each time they are in a different position and it seems like a completely different race every time.

A: Making it to state, making top 10 in state, and making All- State.

Q: Why should a fan come to your meets?

It’s interesting. Anyone can take part of the sport, it’s easy to start and relate to.

Golfer Cameron Herman ’17:

Q: What do you like most about golf?

A: I enjoy the fact I can play this sport, even as I age. I also like that it is a relaxing game to play.

Q: What school is your biggest rival?

A: Walter Payton.

Q:  What is your team’s goal for the season?

A: My personal goal is to break 50 because I just started playing golf in June so I haven’t done that yet. I’m so close though. And the team’s goal is to win city.

Q: Why should a fan come to your tournaments?

A: A fan should come to one of our matches because many of the girls have been playing for a number of years so the level of play is fairly high. Those who are interested in golf would enjoy the competitive level of the match. They are also relaxing and give people the opportunity to get some fresh air.
