Student Profile

The Student I chose to profile was Maniga Angela McClendon(18), Whitney Young class of 2017 senior. There are many Components to Maniga’s identity. She grew up close to the Englewood neighborhood and graduated from C.I.C.S Washington Park elementary school as Valedictorian atop her class. She didn’t stop maintaining her grades there though. After 4 years of high school and rigorous Whitney Young honors and AP courses, she’s standing on a 4.5 GPA, and all A’s with the exception of one B. With all of those academic accomplishments I know you’re wondering where she’s headed for the next 4 or more years of her life. She’s going to be attending Clark Atlanta University on a 21,000 dollar renewable scholarship where she’s going to major in psychology since Maniga’s passionate about becoming a forensic psychologist.

Maniga’s definitely  more than just a brain though. She has amazing feet. Maniga has run track for 8 years and 4 of them were for our high school. One of the quickest females to walk the halls of Whitney Young and a captain of our Track and Field varsity squad who constantly produces city championships. Yes, she will continue her career in college. Music is an interest of hers also. Her favorite type of music is R&B and her playlist ranges from New Edition and The Temptations to Beyonce  and Rihanna. I’m convinced that Maniga will excel in both Athletics and Academics and it’d be great if anybody at Clark ran into into or got a chance to catch up with her, but with her speed….that’s not likely.
