FaceTime is one of the most popular iPhone features used by all age groups of iPhone owners. Though it is a favorite, it has one flaw, you can only talk to one person at a time. This is where Houseparty came to the rescue. Houseparty is an app that allows you to video chat with more than one person in one phone call. Simply have your friends download the app, download it yourself, and join the party! Turn on the push notifications and have Houseparty tell you when your friends are “in the house.” You can video chat up to eight people at the same time.

Many Whitney Young students have already heard of and actively use the app. Calice Robins ’17 shares. “Houseparty is great because I’m able to socialize with all of my friends at the same time from the comfort of our beds.” The app seems to be the FaceTime of 2017, allowing users to chat with their entire friend group, rather than just one at a time. Another senior, Shayanna Love adds, “it’s the app that has finally done what Apple did not. It takes the concept of a group chat to an entirely different level.” While some students are active Houseparty users, others haven’t heard of the app at all. Kamaya Lomax ’18 notes, “though I haven’t heard of this app, it’s definitely something I intend to download. I think this would be helpful for group projects and homework help with my friends.”
