CAUTION: seeing this movie will make you wonder if you are the DUFF of your friend group.

After learning that she is the DUFF (designated ugly fat friend) of her group, Bianca, played by Mae Whitman, sets herself a personal goal to disassociate herself from her friends, and land her dream guy. Toby, played by Nick Eversman, is the dreamy guy that lays low, but also has Bianca’s heart. Bianca is an awkward, spontaneous, fun girl with a bright personality. It only takes the right guy to pull it out of her, or out of her lucky party shirt.

On her quest to become less of a DUFF, she asks the guy next door Wesley, played by Robbie Amell, to make her less unattractive by assisting her buy new clothes, makeup, and bras. Wes is brutally honest with her, saying “You friended up. Good you,” and “If you don’t know who the DUFF is, it’s probably you.

The movie hilariously pokes fun at how teens are obsessed with social media, referencing Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Facebook, Tinder, and even MySpace.

The most developed character in the movie is Madison, played by Disney star Bella Thorne. She is a passive aggressive mean girl who pretends to be friend with Bianca. A notable quotes to describe Madison would be, “I’m what’s known as pre-famous. The chronicles of my life are destined to be on TV.”

IMDB rates the movie to be a 7.2/10, but in reality it deserves at least a 7.3/10.
