Chicago Weather = Not Sweater Weather

Sahara Thomas

When one thinks of fall in Chicago, one usually thinks of falling leaves, cozy sweaters, and the anticipation of Halloween. However, it is the weather that is starting to get on everyone’s nerves. The weather has shifted from 60 to 30 to 80 degrees- all in one month. In a season that is supposed to be stable in weather conditions, it is no doubt that some are concerned and annoyed by the drastic weather changes.

When asked about the bipolar weather, Sophia Ng ‘19 isn’t fazed by it, saying “I think it’s actually pretty nice! I like warm weather, and for it to happen in October isn’t too bad”. Aisha Aich ‘21 thinks the opposite, complaining that “Chicago weather is super inconsistent. It is the perfect equation for getting sick and missing school”. Josh Nakashima ‘19 believes that we are all overreacting, believing “the weather will even out. For now, we just have to deal with the weather we have”. In my opinion, I think the weather is pretty annoying, but it is just as expected as the seasons in Chicago change.

So what can you do to survive the crazy weather? Always bringing a coat is helpful as it is better to be safe than sorry. Always check the weather on your computer or on an app before heading out and dress accordingly. Most importantly, remember that it is fall, and with fall comes cold weather and rainy periods. We may have nice weather now, but it is soon to change!
