Keiynan Lonsdale is not a name you might have heard in the past, but the name is popping up in many places today. Keiynan Lonsdale is an australian actor and musician. He played the role of Kid Flash in the CW’s Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. He also played the love interest in the new movie Love, Simon. Lonsdale is a very convincing actor, “ I had no idea he was Australian, he has such a good American accent,” said Jan Balan ‘18 upon learning that he was Australian.

Besides being an actor in popular television Keiynan Lonsdale has also released a new single titled Kiss the Boy.

Kiss the Boy is an LGBT song about accepting oneself and not being afraid to love who you want. For many teenagers in the community this song resonates with feelings of confusion involved in their life. The lyrics of his song include “Give into love/ Give it the time/  and other lyrics prompting people to accept their feelings for other.

Keiynan Lonsdale came out as bisexual on social media in the recent months and this song was made to show his identification and involvement in the LGBT+ community.

Before the release of the lyric video for his song, Keiynan asked his fans for help on his instagram. He asked his fans to send horizontal videos of them displaying affection to their partners to him. The lyric video included this videos of regular people showing their love. Some videos were men loving men, women loving women, men loving women and was inclusive of everyone regardless of race or gender. “It’s such a sweet video,” said Grace Wilkerson ‘20 when asked her thoughts after watching it.

It was a video that pushed the limits of our normal mainstream media viewing. “I’ve never seen anything like this get popular in our media,” replied Gabi Itturalde ‘18. Go give this video a look so that it can take off.
