Kanye West’s Top Ten Features of the Past Ten Years

Terik Priest

Kanye West will tell you he’s a god. In terms of music, he may not be lying. Yeezus has given us three straight non-debatable classic albums in The College Dropout, Late Registration, and Graduation. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is another indisputable classic. 808s & Heartbreak and Yeezus were ahead of their time, and The Life of Pablo has reminded us that Yeezy is still here. He has never given us a “trash” album. Kanye always brings his best on his own projects, but what about songs of others? Here’s my list of his ten best features in the last 10 years.

#10

I Won by Future (2014)

Kanye brings his braggadocio on this track with Future. He and Future wrote this song about their respective significant others at the time. Kanye’s verse included his praise of his wife and her sisters.

Stand-Out Lyrics

“You the number one trophy wife
So it’s only right to live the trophy life
You grew up on J. Lo, Timberlands by Manolo now
Till one day I put an angel in your ultra sound”

#9

Mula by The Game (2015)

Kanye sings the hook and adds a few bars on this Documentary 2 track with Jayceon Taylor aka The Game. Great song overall.

Stand-Out Lyrics

“Say hello to the mula
I’m on top, no lie
Say hello to the mula
I’m on top, good night”

#8

That Part by ScHoolboy Q (2016)

This is the epitome of a modern day Kanye West verse. He starts his verse off with “okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, OKAY!” He name drops Kobe Bryant, OJ Simpson, O’Shea Jackson Sr aka Ice Cube and Chipotle. His verse will definitely make you crack a smile, that’s for sure.

Stand-Out Lyrics

“Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay! (That part)
Beggars can’t be choosers, b***h this ain’t Chipotle
N***a with an attitude, I feel like O’Shea
Walkin’, livin’ legend, man I feel like Kobe”

#7

Dat Side by Cyhi The Prynce (2017)

The newest song on this list, Kanye uses his verse to address his haters. His flow on this song is great, perfectly matching up with the beat of the song.

Stand-Out Lyrics

“All the haters hating, wait a minute, stand on dat side
I don’t need no allies, I don’t feel the need to fraternize
Yeezys in the field, Yeezys, Yeezys in the field now
Made it to the NBA, we in the NFL now”

#6

Tiimmy Turner (Remix) by Desiigner

Kanye tried his best to help Desiigner regain his momentum after his smash hit Panda. Kanye gave us a pretty woke verse here, but it wasn’t enough to keep Designer in his spot. The song itself wasn’t as big as it could’ve been, but nonetheless a good verse from Mr. West.

Stand-Out Lyrics

“Born in the nation that breeded us
Why they don’t never show me the love?
Jesus Shuttlesworth, I lead the squad
Walk on water while I feed the sharks”

TOP 5

#5

Glow by Drake

Kanye hijacked Drake’s More Life, making Glow his own song in the process. Out of every song on this list, this is the most Kanye-sounding song of them all. He gives us an amazing flow, has an excellent back and forth with Drake, and even sings a little bit. This is one of my favorite songs on this list.

Stand Out Lyrics

“Time to shake the dice, time to change the li-i-ight
No more 9 to 5, autopilot dri-i-ive
Used to work the fries, now we supersi-i-ize
We go suit and tie, we gon’ touch the sky-y-y
We so certified, we so certifi-i-ied”

#4

I Don’t Like by Chief Keef

Kanye remixed Chief Keef’s banger of a song and made it even more popular. He threw his G.O.O.D. Music buddies on it and added a slick verse where he somehow named dropped Michael Jackson, Derrick Rose, Mekhi Phifer, Jesus Christ, and Bump J. Only Kanye, only Kanye.

Stand Out Lyrics

“They smile in my face is what I don’t like
They steal your whole sound: that’s a soundbite
The media crucify me like they did Christ
They want to find me not breathin’ like they found Mike”

#3

Sanctified by Rick Ross

This song has one of the most holy beats I’ve ever heard. Kanye snaps on this track, along with his buddy Rick Ross. They added Betty Wright and Big Sean on the hook, which adds the holy vibe. This song makes me smile every time I hear it.

Stand Out Lyrics

“So you can gon’ and make up lies, but I’m so sanctified
I don’t sweat it, wipe my forehead with a handkerchief
And wash my sins in the blood of Jesus
People sayin’, ‘Ye we need another Yeezus’”

#2

SMUCKERS by Tyler, The Creator

Kanye starts off his verse singing the words, “Why, why, why, why, don’t they like meeee” and follows it up by telling us that Nike gave a lot of people checks but he’s the only person to ever check Nike. Tyler, The Creator pulled the absolute best out of Kanye and Lil Wayne on this song. Kanye mixes a lot bit of knowledge with braggadocio. Incredible verse right here.

Stand Out Lyrics

“It’s funny, when you get extra money
Every joke you tell just be extra funny
I mean, you can even dress extra bummy
Cocaine, bathroom break, nose extra runny
And I gave you all I got, you still want extra from me”

#1

Ego (Remix) by Beyonce

This verse is the epitome of a Kanye West verse. He tells us all about his big ego, making it a double entendre for…well. Beyonce made the absolute perfect decision adding Kanye to the intro. The piano behind his braggadocious lyrics is amazing. The visual for the music video, which is Mr. West in a tuxedo rapping against a brick wall, all shot in black and white, further adds to the feel of this song. The track just feels strong, powerful, and classy.

Stand Out Lyrics

“Coulda let the dream killers, kill my self esteem
Or use the arrogance as a steam that power my dreams
And my ego”

Well, that’s it, my top ten Kanye features of the past ten years. What are yours? Do you agree with my picks?
