“Imma keep running cause a winner don’t quit on themselves”- Beyoncé Giselle Knowles Carter

Beyoncé a singer, feminist, actor, dancer, performer, mother, philanthropist and so much more. Ever since she was a little girl Beyoncé has been singing and dancing in front of large audiences. She began her big career in a girl group titled Destiny’s Child. In 2003 she went solo and became solely the icon named Beyoncé. Since her solo career began Beyoncé has received 22 grammys, 7 American music awards, and 4 World Music Awards.

As a young African-American female Beyoncé is more to me than a simple celebrity. She is there when I need some motivation, when I need a good cry, or even when I just want to party. She’s my role model. Everyone from every age, gender, and race will see her as that too. Mr. Fiksdal teacher at Whitney young said, “My Fiance loves Beyonce, so I wake up with a song from Lemonade stuck in my head more regularly than I’d like to admit.. But Lemonade is all around round amazing. I like the new direction her music has been going and I think she is a great role model.” I find that I can learn from every single thing she does and apply it somehow in my life. I like that she is her own person and doesn’t get influenced by other current music of her day and age. Davia Murray 17’ stated, “I hate when people compare Beyonce and Rihanna to each other. I feel as though she is her own person and can’t be compared to others.” She also isn’t simple-minded, all of her music does not sound the same and you can hear a new style in every album. My favorite songs by her are the ones that can be applied to an activists fight. For example Freedom featuring Kendrick Lamar was searching for rights for black people and Run the World (girls) was saying females do a lot of work for this world and should be appreciated also.

From listening to Beyoncé I have learned to stand up for what I believe in. I shouldn’t let the feelings of others try to discourage how I want to express myself. I should challenge the social norms and be the best version of myself I can be. Her inspiration not only comes from the music but her normal everyday life too. I realized I need someone to “match my fly” so we can succeed together (with Beyonce and Jay Z being one of the most influential couples of this generation). I shouldn’t let others influence what I know to be the truth. People claimed she faked her pregnancy and she continued on then posted pregnancy pictures featuring her unborn twins. She doesn’t let the media influence her everyday lifestyle.
