App Review: 8 Ball Pool

Sandra Delgado

8 Ball Pool is one of the greatest apps out there. This wondrous app is filled with fun and excitement. And, it’s absolutely free! “I love playing 8 Ball Pool and the fact that it was free makes it one hundred times more enjoyable,” says Lydia Alvarez ‘17. Recently, I went on an 18 hour road trip to Tampa, Florida. The only thing that kept me alive during my entire road trip was 8 Ball Pool and I have yet to get sick of it. 8 Ball Pool isn’t just a game, it’s a pastime. Eventually, it can become a lifestyle. The possibilities are endless… Yazmin Hernandez ’17, says, “I think it’s fun and I used to play it all the time but then I got bored of it.”
8 Ball Pool is an app where you can play virtual pool for coins. If you have wi-fi, you can compete with people from all over the world. Ricky Tovar ‘17 comments, “I like that it is basically pool. But I don’t like that it doesn’t account for human mistake. Like, most people can’t always hit the ball right and hit it where they want it to go. It would make it more interesting.” You can connect this gaming app to your Facebook and play with your Facebook friends. You can either compete against your friends, send them free coins, or ask them for coins. If you find yourself stranded in the middle of the desert with zero Wi-Fi, you can play 8 Ball Pool offline, too. While offline, you can practice your 8 Ball skills alone by playing Rapid Fire. Rapid Fire is an offline mini game where you can work on your accuracy by getting all the pool balls in the holes as fast as you can. You can work to beat your personal record. If you find yourself stranded in the middle of the desert with zero wi-fi and a friend, you can play a game of virtual pool with your friend by passing your device back and forth. Sadly, for both offline games, you have to pay 25 coins that you earn from playing online. The games are worth it though.
