If you’re looking for something that will get you to and from Portillo’s with enough time to eat and get to your next period class, Waze is the app for you. Waze is an app that can be downloaded from the Apple Store or Google Play and can be used on your cellular device. The app provides travelers with the fastest road directions depending on their locations as well as utilizes other Waze users who are able to share real time traffic and road information. The idea is that users will reach their desired destinations in the most efficient times possible depending on the moment-to-moment traffic patterns. Sloane Kistinger ‘17 said, “I save at least 10 minutes on my route to school using Waze.” Waze stands out from Google Maps or any other navigation application because of its up to date and unique routes provided. Along with directions, Waze will alert you if there is anything from a car accident or a tire on the road to the location of a police officer. Ellie Odom ‘19 spoke about this feature saying, “Ever since my mom started using Waze she hasn’t gotten one speeding ticket.” This shows that, along with getting users where they need to be, Waze also cares about people’s safety, and helping them avoid getting tickets, as well. Ultimately, Waze is the app to use whenever you are driving from one place to another, especially in a busy city like Chicago. After all, in the words of Lilly Holmes ‘17, “Why would you use any other app?”
