Whitney Young Introduces Grab & Go

Carol Platt, Student Life Editor

On January 21st, the Whitney Young breakfast program will be getting a makeover. Rather than the current breakfast system on the service line, students will be able to grab a breakfast bag at their convenience. While the Grab & Go program is new to Whitney Young, other schools throughout the district already have it in place.

Robin Young, the school marketing manager, and Mr. Stanley Jones, the school dining manager, are working together with Mr. Swanson to make the switch as smooth and easy as possible. Rather than breakfast beginning at 7:30 am, students who arrive at school earlier will be able to get breakfast starting at 7:00 am.

Simply because the bag breakfast is more convenient, students do not have to worry about losing any of their favorite breakfast items. Every morning there will be a brown bag and a white bag. The brown bag signals the cold breakfast option, a meal such as cereal, a fruit, yogurt and juice. The white bag signals the hot breakfast option, a meal such as pancakes, a fruit, yogurt and juice. Every morning extra fruits will be available, as will skim and regular milk.

This new breakfast system is free to all WY students, so make sure to take advantage of it. It will be every morning in red house, from 7:00 am until 8:00 am; all you need is your student ID to tap and scan (even if you forgot your ID that morning, all you have to do is type in your ID number!). Make sure to stop by red house on the 19th and 20th to participate in tasting and let your voice be heard!
