After Sony’s unveiling of the new next-generation console in the Playstation line of gaming, the Playstation 5 is set to release soon on November 12th, 2020. Many people are hoping for great things with the PS5 as it aims to reimagine gaming and improve its specs from last generation’s great Playstation 4 console, which has sold 113 million units since its release back in 2014. “I’m just excited to get my hands on a new console. I loved the PS4 and all the exclusive games that came with it so I am just anxious to get my hands on this”, said Jonathan Napoles ‘21. The PS5 is set to release with games like Spider-man: Miles Morales, Demon Souls, Destruction All-Stars, Call of Duty: Cold War, among many other titles. Huge gamer Adrian Ng ‘23 added, “I love Fortnite and the PS5 is also releasing alongside a new port of Fortnite for the next generation so I couldn’t be happier to bring all my skins with me.” The price point for this next-generation console was speculated for quite a while but is set to be $499 for the standard PS5 and $399 ($100 cheaper than the standard one) for the PS5 digital edition which has slightly worse specs and does not allow discs to be inserted meaning everything will have to be purchased digitally. Father of two Whitney Young students, Chor Ng said, “$500 for a game? That’s a lot of money and I hope my kids don’t ask me for it.”
