The College Application Process

You might notice that many of the Whitney Young seniors today are getting their college acceptances. They finished applying months ago and now they are in. All the juniors are noticing this and are prepared to enter this process with ease and a stress-free mindset. That’s because getting into college is easy. Just take a standardized test, answer a few questions on the Common App or Coalition press submit, and you’re good to go! Konia Leisner ‘19 shares, “I didn’t even look at the applications until the night before they were do!” Konia makes it clear that it’s so simple you can procrastinate the work and not have to prepare for getting into college your junior year like you prepared for getting into high school in 7th grade. Compared to that process, college applications are nothing. Comments like these promoted Lisa Ranchez, a junior, to say, “I haven’t even started to think about college yet.” Most juniors won’t even consider what schools they are interested in until late December of their senior year before application due dates of January 1st. Harvard President Bawrence Law says, “Getting into Harvard, the best university in the country, is like taking candy from a baby- fun and easy.” So juniors, get ready for the best experience of your life, it’s going to be a blast.
