Stress over college

The stress of AP classes along with college apps are too much for current high school seniors. AP classes take up a lot of students’ time because of the rigorous tasks and assignments assigned on the daily, in addition to tests that further decrease students’ chances to get proper sleep at night. I talked to multiple students and the average amount of sleep a night for them is 1-4 hours. AP classes generally create a lot of anxiety and stress for students. Akimia Wilson ‘19 says, “I am in a tough situation because of all the time these classes are requiring and the lack of time I get for sleep due to the fact that I still have to complete college apps. This situation is stressing me out and I can’t get any sleep.” Many students say that the stress of taking AP classes is overwhelming due to the workload required. Along with that, we must also complete college apps which are very time consuming and stressful for students. Rilwan Shittu ‘19 says,” There’s a lot of pressure on kids because of all that we have to do as seniors in high school.” In conclusion, there may be a lot of pressure on you and there might be high expectations of you but if you calm yourself and organize your time, you will be fine.
