Seniors catch a break?

Finally, we can take a breath. With the November 1st deadline behind us, our senior class has an opportunity to decompress. However, don’t be fooled by the January 1st deadlines! They may seem far away, but in reality, that is not the case.

With a more thorough examination of our future schedule, seniors do not have weeks of time to waste, pushing off regular decisions until December. Jack Fetsch ‘19 remarked, “Winter Break is prime time for me to relax. I’ve got plans, what if I’m down in Cancun, or spicing it up in D.C.? There won’t be time and I won’t have the means to do any college applications.” These wise words apply to many families who like to vacation over the holidays, and even those who don’t, family might be coming in to visit, friends might want to hang out, the list goes on. Xander Struyk ‘19 said, “I am planning on relaxing, maybe playing some video games, so I can’t still be working on my college essays. I’m gonna have to start and finish my work earlier.” With Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, New Years, and other holidays, students would rather take time off to celebrate those with people who are close to them. Moreover, for those working diligently over November, Thanksgiving takes almost a week of prime work time away from students. That means we all need to get back to work as soon as possible. Akhil Kalgatgi ‘19 had some important insight when he acknowledged, “I need to apply for scholarships just nearly as much as I need to finish my applications. To do so, I need to finish my other work so I have ample time to apply for scholarships before their deadlines.” In summation, seniors need to get the rest of their applications in so they can enjoy a proper break!

We don’t have that much time to complete the rest of our applications.
