North Korea launched their first missile test in over two months this Wednesday. The newly designed ballistic missile was launched in the early hours Wednesday morning. South Korea and Japan watched as it landed in the sea of Japan.North Korea self-reported that the missile was a long-form intercontinental ballistic missile superior to their previous. North Korea also claimed they now have the ability to hit the entire United States with their missiles. This leap in capability and limits has caused the United States to call for a total boycott on North Korea in order to cripple their nuclear abilities.

As North Korea has ramped up their nuclear capabilities, concern for safety has increased and some students have some problems with the current direction the issue is going in. “It seems like the threat of war becomes more and more likely every single day” says Jin Wu ‘18. Other students have another, more relaxed position on the situation. “I don’t think the problem will get much bigger than it is now, it’s all a front” says James Hernandez ‘18. Whether the North Korean missile issue dies down soon or not, the world and its governments will continue to keep a keen eye on the regime and their capabilities.
