The large, colorfully collaged quote hanging on the windows of blue house was the first creation of the Best Buddies Art class at Whitney Young. It is made out of several different mediums like yarn, paint, markers, and magazine clippings. The quote reads, “Be the reason someone smiles today.” The class had come up with several different motivational quotes and voted on them during with first couple weeks of school. The quote is meant to be a reminder to be kind to people and will be hanging up all year long.

The next Best Buddies Art project that will be on display in the school will be paper mache masterpieces that the class is currently finishing up. The buddies and their buddy leaders had the creative freedom to create whatever they wanted out of paper mache. Some groups created cars or a giant crocodile and one group even made a birthday cake. In the class, laughs and chatter can be heard from all around, making it a friendly and fun environment. That’s Allison Geary’s ‘18 favorite part of the class. As she described, “Best Buddies Art is something I look forward to everyday. I love talking to the buddies and making some interesting art pieces.”
