2017 Fall Play Announced! All the details from callout, meetings, and more

It’s that time of the year again! Just as we settle into school, production on the fall play has begun (just barely). The fall 2017 Young Company production was announced by theater director Mr. Dan Winkler on Tuesday, September 12th during the biannual callout meeting. We are happy to announce that, coming this November, the Young Company presents… The Good Times are Killing Me by Lynda Barry!

The cover of the original “Good Times are Killing Me” book by Lynda Barry.

Good Times revolves around two main characters: Edna Arkins, a young girl discovering the ways of life, and Bonna Wilkins, another young girl who has recently moved into Edna’s neighborhood. That’s about all to be revealed at this moment in time (you’ll have to see the show to find out more). If you’re interested in auditioning, the process begins on Monday, September 18th with a preliminary open audition (see Mr. Winkler for more information on roles and requirements). In addition to the characters and plot of Good Times, Art Crew Chief Kat Hasanov (‘18) has stated that she is “very interested to see what [the Company] can do with this show”. Stay tuned for more on the play here on the online version of The Beacon, in the paper edition of The Beacon, and on DubTV as the year continues and production increases. We hope to see everyone at opening night on Friday, November 17th!
